Position: Senior Electrical Engineer
Compensaiton: $85,000-$100,000 + D.O.E

Direct Hire - Perm.


Job Summary:
Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports as needed on assigned tasks and
oversee that these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound
engineering practice. Is technically involved in the resolution of design problems that may
include research, performing field investigation, detail design work, performing high-level
calculations, detailed checking of design computation and CAD work done by others, or
general coordination of specific design aspects into a project. Responsible for setting the
design direction and assuring the project is completed within the budget and time
allowance and adherence to the project deliverables. Involved in specification writing
which includes research to determine appropriate products for the application(s).
Responsible for bid support consisting of answering bidder questions, reviewing and
approving product substitutions, creating addendums as needed. Responsible for
construction administration such as reviewing pay applications, conducting field
observations to assure installation is being done in accordance with contract documents,
creating punchlists, and assisting commissioning of specified products.
Supervise, mentor, and schedule work of other junior team members. Work closely with
other discipline on multi-discipline projects. Will have heavy client contact at this staff
level and heavy contact with other staff and team members.

Essential responsibilities and functions include the following:

Produces and direct junior staff with regard to the creation of construction documents
consisting of primarily of drawings and specifications.
Conduct field observations of existing facility electrical systems and create and/or
assist in the creation of reports related to electrical power distribution systems,
interior and exterior lighting systems and controls, and other electrical systems such
as but not limited to fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, CATV, nurse
call, telephone/data, sound amplification, paging, clock, multi-media, and lightning
protection.
Perform independent research into available products, materials and/or construction
installation methods.
Obtain support documents from manufacturers for items such as IES lighting files,
conductor and product performance data, breaker and fuse curves and other similar
electrical engineering data.
Converse fluently with manufacturers, or their representatives, on products and
installation guidelines and be able to capture and transfer that knowledge to other
team members.
Properly document research conducted.
Communicate, document, and coordinate the electrical requirements of equipment
designed and specified by other discipline team members.
Perform cost analysis for various options using standard engineering economic
fundamentals.
Perform energy code calculations and fill in related forms
Perform lighting calculations as directed and trained using office standard computer
programs.
Perform voltage drop calculations using spreadsheet and/or computer programs.
Perform fault current calculations as directed and trained using office computer
programs.
Perform or review selective coordination studies
Involved at a high level with the buildings energy modeling
Perform service and branch circuit calculations in accordance with the National
Electrical Code requirements.
Have a strong working knowledge of building construction practices.
Have a strong working knowledge of national, state and local electrical, building,
mechanical, and fire protection codes.
Have a strong working knowledge of NFPA documents such as 780, 110, 101, 99, 96,
72, 70, 70E, 58, 20.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
High School or equivalent diploma.
Certificate/Degree or related education or working experience in Electrical
Engineering fundamentals.
Strong working knowledge of general computer functions/applications (Windows
Explorer, Word, Excel, etc.)
Strong attention to details while maintaining consistent work flow and overall project
efficiency.
Ability to work unsupervised & resolve issues independently based on project/
company standards.
Willingness/ability to expand knowledge of engineering abilities through training (inhouse,
eternal, and self).
Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented with them.
Ability to be flexible and work as team player interacting well with others.
Good organizational and documentation skills.
Good written and oral communication skills.
