Under the direction of a licensed engineer and/or engineering geologist, the Staff Civil Engineer will work with the engineering group to perform feasibility studies and reports, engineering design, field engineering, and construction management services on a variety of projects.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, designers, consultants, contractors, and co-workers.
  • Prepare soil/rock slope engineering and stabilization designs as needed.
  • Collaborate with peers within the same and other departments to successfully complete projects.
  • Conduct field work including site investigations and construction monitoring.
  • Provide quality control and technical analysis of tunnel excavation and stabilization works; tunnel lining including reinforced concrete/shotcrete lining, steel supports, and timbers; slope reinforcements including soil nails, rock dowels, and tensioned tie back anchors; portal structures and other structural elements of tunnels; cantilever and soil nail retaining walls; slope stability and assist with design of slope stabilization options; alternative solutions/materials/design approaches; constraints analysis, e.g.: environmental; right--of-way; funding..
  • Prepare plans, technical designs and engineer's estimates for roadways, and civil works projects.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Geological, or a Related Engineering Degree is required. 
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam with corresponding current EIT
  • One to three years of industry related work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, AutoCAD/Civil 3D or Microstation/InRoads and a slope stability analysis program.
  • Knowledge of software suitable for design of tunnel structures including finite element codes.
  • Actively pursuing a Registered Civil Engineering Registration (California).
  • This position will require the ability to sit at a desk working eight hours with appropriate rest and meal breaks.
  • Ability to monitor a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), (Protective clothing, possibly a respirator, etc.).
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout the markets we serve (primarily Northern California).
